Ingredients:

For the vada:

  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/4 cup gram flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

  • 4 pav buns

Instructions:

  1. Make the vada: Combine the mashed potatoes, gram flour, rice flour, red chili powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt in a bowl. Mix well until a dough forms.
  2. Shape the vada: Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly.
  3. Fry the vada: Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the vada until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  4. Prepare the pav: Cut the pav buns in half and butter or margarine the inside.
  5. Assemble the vada pav: Place a fried vada between the two halves of the pav bun.

Vada Pav is best enjoyed hot and fresh. It is often served with a chutney or a spicy sauce.
